I'm painting my 57 Dodge Royal Lancer's trunk interior.
It appears to have been painted with a light gray splatter paint.
Where can I purchase the correct trunk splatter paint?

thank you

The factory didn't use a splatter paint. Just a random shade of gray with possible blue tint or not.

I probably agree but it might make a difference as to which plant built the 57 Dodge Royal, Detroit or Los Angeles.

The Detroit 57 Royal VINs started with 37, 240,001 and the Los Angeles 57 Royal VINs started with 45, 540,001.

I *think* (based on 1956 Dodge factory practises) that the Detroit trunk undersides were body colour and the Los Angeles trunk undersides were a non-descript non-speckle/splatter smooth grey made from let over paints (so they varied from week to week).

Another factor that I do not know the answer to is the under trunk liners (kind of a waffle embossed maybe oil-impregnated cardboard) were typically full in 1957 with some (but I don't know why) exceptions. All 56 Chrysler product trunk underliners were partial, not full, possibly with the exception of the Imperials.

Restorers are most likely to paint the underside of the trunk the same as the top of the trunk and install full under-liners so be aware that what you see might or might not be the way that the car left the factory.

Partial Liner:

Based on the good information provided here, and closer inspection of the car; I will paint the underside the gold color that the car is. I see a lot of evidence of the gold.
My car is a Detroit built car with 37 as the first digits in vin.
I also, pulled up the card board that was on the trunk floor. It was partial. Looked terrible with age and some moisture damage.
The trunk floor had surface rust, from moisture getting under trunk mat! No structural damage, so I can see plenty of gold and zero spatter type paint.
Thanks Bob
