Location: upstate new york | Ok, we'll try it this way....do I have to remove the dash to put in new windlace??? I have the back done, onto the front...curious if anyone has done it without removing dash....

| dash is fairly easy to remove.(well except wiring)..., take trim off top around window, there are screws and bolts around edges, there is a connection at the brake bracket also.and obviously the corners underneath You shouldnt have to remove for windlace, worst case take all the bolts and screws out would let you move it a bit... i leave the rear view mirror super long screws in so I can move it around a bit.

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | On the '60 Chryslers, the windlace is sewn to a cardboard profile that fits the A-pillar. The cardboard with the windlace is held in place by small steel clips.
My guess the '57 has a simular solution.
I had to rip out the cardboard from the two clips behind the dash.
When I remounted the windlace with new cardboard, I used all the accessable clips and put a small dab of glue in the section of the cardboard where the hidden clips still remained.
Not a big problem
