Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10190 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . I started a 55 Plymouth Body code thread this AM and some of the responses to that one were really for 56 Plymouths. I said that I was going to also start a 56 Plymouth thread (in the future), BUT I guess I better get it going sooner than later, as in NOW. This is what I hope to fill in: (56PlymouthModelListing.jpg) (56PlymouthCompleteLine_2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 56PlymouthModelListing.jpg (73KB - 423 downloads) 56PlymouthCompleteLine_2.jpg (204KB - 439 downloads)

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10190 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . This was one response in the 55 Plymouth body code thread (I think Igor meant 56 Plymouth) (I don't necessarily agree with him - yet): frwl - 2020-07-30 11:13 AM . 1955 Plymouth Body Codes Plaza L6 513 = 2door Business Sedan 512 = 2door Sedan 510 = 4door Sedan 517 = Suburban 2door Station Wagon, 6P 518 = Suburban 4door Station Wagon, 6P Plaza V8 612 = 2door Sedan 610 = 4door Sedan 617 = Suburban 2door Station Wagon, 6P 618 = Suburban 4door Station Wagon, 6P Savoy L6 502 = 2door Sedan 500 = 4door Sedan Savoy V8 602 = 2door Sedan 600 = 4door Sedan Belvedere L6 702 = 2door Sedan 700 = 4door Sedan 703 = Hardtop Coupe 708 = Suburban 4door Station Wagon, 6P Belvedere V8 802 = 2door Sedan 800 = 4door Sedan 803 = Hardtop Coupe 804 = Convertible Coupe 808 = Suburban 4door Station Wagon, 6P ;) Edited by 56D500boy 2020-07-30 9:15 PM

Exner Expert 10K+ Posts: 10190 Location: Lower Mainland BC | . Another response to the 55 Plymouth Body Code thread (mine in this case), followed by Nathan's 56D500boy - 2020-07-30 12:27 PM . Thanks Igor and Robert. I am going to start a separate thread on 56 Plymouths. I'm not liking the 55 two-digit codes. Many of them don't jive with the info that I got off the invoice copies. Also Not sure about the three digit 56 Plymouth codes. I only have on 56 Plymouth body tag for a Belvedere and its BT (body code is 866). See below. :) Powerflite - 2020-07-30 5:56 PM I don't know what the 8 in front of the 2 digit code stands for. Maybe that is V8? But my V8 '56 Savoy 2dr sedan has body code 854. So the last two digits match up. So now we can start on the 56 Codes in earnest.

Elite Veteran Posts: 1049 Location: PL / EU | Ok, here's what i have - there are at least three types of body code markings - first used on invoices: 10 Plymouth 6 Taxi 15 Plaza 6 4dr sedan 25 Savoy 6 4dr sedan 62 Fury 69 Belvedere 8 4dr sport sedan (HT) - second used on LA plates: P282 = 625 = Savoy 4dr sedan P293 = 866 = Belvedere 2dr HT - third used on Detroit and Evansville plates (if they are the same?) 201 = Savoy 301 = Belvedere 4dr sedan 302 = Belvedere 2dr sedan 404 = Fury I think the invoice system corresponds to the LA system. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9898 Location: So. Cal | Here are the pictures of the two '56 Plymouth body tags I have collected, along with one of my Fury's tag. 1st is a Belvedere 2dr sedan, 2nd a Belvedere 4dr sedan, 3rd is my '56 Fury. The two Belvedere's were made in Detroit, but my Fury was made at Evansville. Elite Veteran Posts: 1049 Location: PL / EU | The numbers used on the invoices is the same like numbers used on the IBM cards and the Chrysler Historical letters. I suppose that explains the LA tagging. If the first number is an engine (LA tag), it might look like this: - invoices, IBM: 10 = Plymouth 6 Taxi 14 = Plaza 6 2 dr sedan 15 = Plaza 6 4dr sedan 25 = Savoy 6 4dr sedan 62 = Fury 66 = Belvedere 8 2dr HT (???) 69 = Belvedere 8 4dr HT - LA plates: Pxxx = 610 = Plaza 6 TAXI (???) Pxxx = 614 = Plaza 6 2dr Sedan (???) Pxxx = 615 = Plaza 6 4 dr sedan (???) P282 = 625 = Savoy 6 4dr sedan Pxxx = 862 = Fury (???) P293 = 866 = Belvedere 8 2dr HT Pxxx = 869 = Belvedere 8 4dr HT (???) - Detroit and Evansville plates (if they are the same?) 101 = Plaza 4dr sedan (???) 102 = Plaza 2dr sedan 201 = Savoy (4dr sedan?) 202 = Savoy 2dr sedan (???) 203 = Savoy 2dr HT (???) 301 = Belvedere 4dr sedan 302 = Belvedere 2dr sedan 303 = Belvedere 4dr HT (???) 304 = Belvedre 2dr HT (???) 305 = Belvedere Conv. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9898 Location: So. Cal | Robert, your list is wrong. I just showed you that a Belvedere convertible has a code 309. And a Savoy 2dr hardtop should be 204, right?

Expert Posts: 2029 | . According to the «MOPAR PASSENGER CAR PARTS LIST» book, all 1956 Furys were built in Detroit Plant; However the IBM-card one of them says overwise… This one built in Evansville… That’s oddly… http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=75246&...
