Oooo... the red and white one has a Loadflite transmission. Yikes both trucks are major projects.

Yeah,I’d want the “loadflite” if I bought one of these too. As far as trucks go,these are the coolest ones

I’ve always thought it was a shame these trucks were so utilitarian design wise inside. You’d think they’d jazz up the interiors on these Forward look trucks a little bit to match the exterior appearance

There was a sever lack of "Forward Thinking" at the helm of Mother MoPar back then when it came to Dodge Trucks.

Yeah, Dodge especially catered to the poor farmer compared to Ford & GM. Dodge trucks were always built as cheap as possible. Many Ford & Chevy trucks of the era had radios set in the dash for them, yet a radio in a Dodge was almost unheard of and was an afterthought, attached to the roof. Other rarities in a Dodge truck are: rear view mirror, passenger arm rest, ash tray, all of which were pretty standard in the other makes. Power steering was a regular feature of Chevy & Ford after 1958, but Dodge didn't get real power steering until 1972. Before that, you had to get an assist setup attached to your linkage if you wanted it, and almost none of them were even equipped with that. In 1957, Dodge didn't even provide a proper VIN number. They put the VIN on a piece of paper in the glove box! They only did this one year, and probably got their hand slapped by the government. As such, to get a VIN inspection, you have to make the frame stamping visible (on the left front section). Don't be stupid enough to swap frames or make a custom frame on a '57 Dodge truck or you will lose your ability to title it!! Bend the frame in the left front from an accident and you will have similar trouble because it may not be readable after you fix it.

Thanks Powerflite for the added insight on Dodge trucks vs Ford and Chevy. Wow!,I never knew that Dodge trucks didn’t have true power steering until 1972,or about the Vin being on a piece of paper. It’s almost unbelievable Chrysler would be so behind the big two in the truck dept, especially since they always prided themselves on their advanced engineering. They probably lost a lot of the truck market to Chevy and ford because of it.
