Looking for a full carpet kit for my nine passenger DeSoto wagon. Are there any vendors out there that have pre sewn panels for the back of the seats as well. Same os and '57-'59 suburbans. Curious who you all use.

When I had the carpet done on my 60 Polara wagon, I purchased a molded set for a 4 door sedan from acc (https://www.accmats.com/) and then had to order enough extra to do the rest. The molded carpet in front didn't fit well at all and it had to be modified, but it did have the correct heel pad and the carpet quality and color were very close to the original. On the wagon, the rear floor carpet needs to be extended and then there is a vinyl cover sewn in there to cover the floor when the seat is folded forward. All of the carpeted inserts in the back had to be edged. The floor and sizes of the third floor were all cut, sewn, and edged too. It was a huge job, but well worth the effort. Any good upholsterer (with vintage car experience) should have no problem doing it, but good work is never cheap.

For a 57-59... you're going to have to cut and sew the whole thing. But, as you can see, a good job makes a huge difference! If you have the original carpet, it'll be easy to match the cuts.

Some carpet companies will extend the rear portion of the carpet kit to go under the back seat. My problem is finding the right carpet for my '60 New Yorker wagon. it's a thick cut pile but so far I'm finding thin fuzzy carpet being sold as cut pile. The kind of carpet you find at Home Depot in the indoor/outdoor style.

Did you have your rear quarter panel covers redone as well? It all looks great in there.

Aaron, that is the first time I've seen the interior of your wagon. It is spectacular!

I am also curious how the rear wheelhouses were covered. Is that vinyl that has been stretched and glued into position?

Sorry to the OP for hijacking your thread.

Here is my rear seat area. And yes, that is the original carpet. Thick cut pile used in the 300F and New Yorker.

Thanks! Yes, the vinyl and carpet were sewn to match the original pieces and the vinyl was stretched and glued... and looked amazing when it was done. The plastic box covers over the 2nd row hinges covered the only wrinkles that were there.

Did a first cleaning on my wagon rear compartment. Here is the thread I started on mine. http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=73760

The floor panel behind the middle seat is raised up on one side, need to see what's going on there. Looks like I'm going to try and save my original carpets and just do some repairs. There sure is a lot of carpet in these cars. Mine even has a carpeted panel behind the third seat backrest where yours has vinyl.

Nick, seems like you have the original material there, check if the original carpet is like a soft material with the loop piles sew to it. The most important part is the bottom of the carpet.
I sent this reply to your thread Friday, but I don't know what happened to it.

Check under your carpet also could be the broadcast sheet of your car.

I did find the build sheet and some other items. See my other post at http://www.forwardlook.net/forums/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=73760
