1958 Imperial Custom Southampton 2door Hardtop for $40K on EBAY
No Crown emblems above headlamp bezels and above Imperial script on the front fenders
It is definitely low priced Custom trim level with optional Power Seat
A mid-priced Crown has Power Windows and Power Seat as standard equipment…

This car looks to be in incredible original condition. A credit to the factory that built it. Nice colors and a coupe as well.

That steering wheel looks to be in amazing condition. Even the push buttons appear to have minimal wear and the rear mud flap is still intact too.

Besides the obvious lack of power windows and A/C, it's actually decently optioned for a Base model Imperial.

From what I can see in the pics
303 6 way power front seat
345 Heater-Custom conditionaire
365 Flightsweep Trunk
394 Rear Defogger
408 Hood Ornament
406 Accessory Package "A" (tilt-type rearview mirror + vanity mirror + rear license plate frame)
445 Electro-Touch radio w/ pw antenna

This fine automobile is a typical example of a pristine base model out classing a loaded up premium model of "so, so" quality that may bring as much or even more money. I'd prefer this one any day where I didn't have to spend 5 years getting it to the condition it already is - ready to drive and enjoy. Color is a matter of preference but it is what it is and as with any used car, there is no choice. You either take it as is or go for a repaint in the color of your choice.

Good luck to the seller and buyer on this one.

I owned an exact duplicate of this car, but it was really rotted and in sorry condition. Love this interior. Mine seemed like it was a darker gold exterior but maybe it's just these photos . I liked the color. A friend bought it and it just sits.

What Viper Guy says is exactly correct....this car is a far 'smarter' buy than many others with more options. But....you buy it knowing you'll spend the rest of your life justifying that to the rest of the world, the Imperial people in particular.

Is something off with the cowl tag?  Seems like it should be body color.  Do the codes match bamboo yellow?

I thought Z was champaign gold.

Four of my 58's have black trim tags like this one. My fifth '58 has a body color tag. That last one also has a late build date of June 11th so maybe there was a variance on some days or later in the production run?
ZZZ paint code would be champagne gold
XZZ is a custom or two-tone paint

XZZ means white roof (that the car has) and Champagne Gold indeed. The color matches that 1958 Crown convertible that is ZZZ.

Maybe we have a bad representation in our heads of what Champagne Gold should look like ? Bamboo Yellow is probably even more yellowish. Don't forget that Champagne (the one with bubbles) is quite yellow.

The car here was scheduled on 19th of November, 1957.

I just have assumed that car painted in Champagne Gold
After the seller added the picture of the cowl tag later, my speculations has been wrong
Actually Paint Code XUU – Ermine over Bamboo Yellow is slightly yellow than Champagne Gold
