The '60 Dodge Matador Wagon in grey primer is known to me since long.
Have you noticed the enlonged fins ending on the rear doors?

Is here anyone who knows the story behind this?

I didn't even notice that! Looks great.

Somebody rescue the FL's, especially the the 60 Fury, from the aftermarket wheel-crowd

The former owner is a friend of mine Sid.
There's absolutely no evidence of a custom work.
All sheet metal seams looks like the were factory made....

Would the rear door of a 60 Matador Sedan fit a wagon? Then "only" the rear quarter would require kustom-work.

Sharp Sid, yes the rear doors will interchange.

I think you're spot on here, perhaps they took the rear quarter from a sedan.

But, still, there's no signs of any custom work on the car - the inside of the door and rear quarter doesn't have any extra seams.

My guess, long shot, is that this car was specially made for some high rank person at Dodge. Or it's a pre-production car (normally never sold to customers, rather scrapped).
