Location: California | Recently acquired fury with a poly 318 the heater was not getting hot. Checked heater control valve, core, hose routing and everything checked out. Disconnected the heater hose at the new water pump and started the car and no coolant is being pumped through the outlet. Revved the engine and just a very small amount of coolant came out. Removed the new water pump and checked it against the old one and the impeller is on the right direction. Any ideas? |

Location: central Illinois | Drill a tiny hole in the thermostat so there's no air lock. Jack the front of the car up or park on a hill so the radiator is high. Fill with coolant and watch temp gauge as you wait for water to circulate.
You may also want to make sure there's no blockage in the heater core itself. |

Location: Netherlands | Usually (depending also on heatercore design) there's an inlet and an outlet port on the heater core.
Hook up the hoses the wrong way and the heater core will trap air, deminishing its function, hook it up the right way and it will expell air from the core.

Location: California | I unhooked the hose directly from the water pump. No coolant is being pumped out of the water pump. Checked the thermostat and found it had been gutted. Not good on a new engine. |

Location: California | More bad news. Coolant is not circulating through the engine and there is a massive, internal vacuum leak. |

Location: California | So the problem is that the previous owner put corks in both the heater hoses rather than make a loop or repairing the leaking heater core. Hopefully the engine is ok but it had been running pretty hot. There is a sizable intake vacuum leak. Going to have it checked for warpage. The head gaskets are not leaking g so that's one good thing. |
