Not rare. All 59 Dodges had 11x 2 1/2 in the front. I believe 4dr HT and wagon got them in the rear as well.

Be sure you are aware if your car had 'early' or 'late' 59 brakes. Big difference.

I would recommend Andy Bernbaum's (oldmoparts.com). Avoid anything with asbestos. You don't want to breathe that dust.

Ronbo,
I am surprised at you..... You know that the ++ Asbestos ++ is the nicest,
Softest, only smoooooothest braking surface known to mankind.
This new garbage friction material will rip up the hubs & drums to smithereens...
NOT a good idea, at all, on the Wagner Lockheed Center Plane Brake
System.... Yours, Craig.......

Nonsense, Craig. I've been using the modern stuff on my collector cars for years with no problems. Also breathing asbestos dust is harmful to everyone's health, especially the person installing the shoes, as well as all individuals removing the drums in subsequent years. Google 'asbestos dust' if you don't believe me.

I know asbestos is still used in the USA. But I was under the impression asbestos was not permitted to be sold in brake shoes since the introduction of the Toxic Substances Control Act 1976.

It hasn't been illegal that long in brake shoes -- because the quantity of
Asbestos in brake shoes is indeed puny -- as compared to lining an entire
building or school with it.
It has been illegal to Manufacture brake shoes since about the mid 1990s.
And that is why the world is begging me to find it -- because it is farñand
away the nicest, smoooooothest braking surface known to mankind --
And does not RIP UP brake drums **** critical **** on cars with expensive
Brake Drums or Hubs & Drums......
In the Mopar World, the G M world, the Ford World, the Studebaker
World, the Rambler / AMC world --- and for Brake Shoes & Brake Pads.
I have waiting lists for people on part #s that I am out of..... And I
Am always buying more, whenever they "pop up".
We know that Australia will NOT let any Asbestos in -- they have far
More stringent laws in that regard as the U.S.A.

Being in Australia, God Bless you and your country, douse these
Flames and return to normalcy. Between 1 and 2 million animals
have perished; we feel your pain though we are many miles away!!!!!
Yours, Craig
