I had bought the car in the Spring... Loved it.
My mother passed away and I lost my winter storage that was her garage.
Also inherited some debt.
Couldn't afford extra storage so I was forced to put the car up, instead of having sit in the elements.

Contacted the salesman from Gateway who sold it to me.
He put me in contact with a guy who was looking at it when I bought it.
I sold it to him for what I paid for it.... $22,000.

Today, I see he put it up for over $30,000.
I fell for a sob story about how his dad had one and he was sentimental about it.
When in reality, I guess he just wanted to flip it.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I am not the bandit.
If things had not happened the way they did, I would still have it.

Sad to hear the tale, unfortunately not an unheard of practice. I'd probably be willing to wager money that this "other guy" was actually a fellow dealer that they call in to work these deals and get the car from you for as cheap as possible and they get the car back in their showroom at the new price. I had a deal with StreetSide Classics out of AZ treat me similarly when I was trying to sell a 1950 Ford Business Coupe, they refused to acknowledge that the Business Coupe was worth more than a typical 2dr Sedan and were lowballing the price it would be listed at. I ultimately told them to shove off and decided to market the car on my own.

Moral of the story is that used/classic car dealers are ALWAYS out to make money, they do not care about you, and they do not care about the car, only the profit.

You don't know what happened in his situation. He could have had something happen and is just trying to get more money out of it. Sorry for what happened to you

Happened to me too. Gave away 3k to sell a 60 Desoto to someone really in love with it, promising not to part it out (stupid me). While this is not a capital crime, I'm sure these money greedy lying critters will get the bill sooner or later.

John, thats a pretty sad story. Sorry to hear about your Ma, and then the rest.
I admired that Plymouth coupe when I saw it for sale. So rare to see a white one.
If that car was in Australia for $22K, I would have bought it too. A beauty.

Steve.
