Bought a 59 Fury in parts years ago. An absolut rust free coupe. It is light blue, which I like, but I spotted some pale seafoam color under flaking paint, which I like alot better. In fact that is my favorite color.
The car was originally painted light blue, so my question (not knowing much about pre 60s) did they use a seafoam color primer in 59? The same color is on the package tray under the rear window. I'm puzzled, since I never saw that before on any Mopar.

Really nobody that can explain the aqua layer under the blue paint? I've never seen a FL Mopar with an aqua colored primer but know not much about the 55-59 years.

It doesn't look aqua to me. My guess is it is a variation of the battleship random bluish-gray that they used to paint the trunks & undercarriage.

The paint code is BB. The OE interior (door panels, windlace, etc) is blue too. The layer under the blue paint is of light aqua color or seafoam.

Agreed, had to be some leftover paint used as primer. I have seen shade variation on the gray primer, but never that light.

Yes, it is not grey, It is a light green/blue, some computer screens might change the color. If I ever paint it, it will be that, or a similar color.

BTW, the doors are missing the straps that keep them from opening too far, hitting the fenders. How are these things called? And do they have some kind of retentions(?) to keep the door open in different positions (like 60+)?

Yes, the door limiters have a retainer function in them too, but it works only at full extension. At least, that is the case for '57-'58.
