| Ok I have started on the attack on my '60 Fury to fight all the years of decay, rust. Here it is I have sarted sanding off the roof, factory vinyl so that's another story. Any way does anyone have any idea of what the "putty?" or what ever that the factory put in the drip rails? What I have found is like body filler that is hard as rock and is cracked and coming out when the sander hits it.
Man I would love to have this thing dipped or blasted down, but that ain't happening. I figure it will take about 10-12 hours removal on the roof to bare with at least 10 or so each of 50 & 80 grit sanding disks. I'm using my Makita rotary sander. But yeah the stuff in the drip rails. Did thay smooth out body filler in them I mean the valley's are fairly deep without the stuff in there. |

Location: DFW, TX | You want "controlled flow seam sealer" that lays down flat (self levels) after it gets applied. You can buy cheaper stuff than this, but you get the idea. And if you buy the 3M stuff, just remember that as with most 3M products, you will need a 3M-specific application tool that costs more than the stuff you're trying to apply. Ridiculous.

| I used that stuff and then sanded it down, the flat leveling stuff will still "flow" and ripple down the back slope of the car. jack up the back pretty high and then go nuts. make sure its very very clean, sanded with like 120, fill it completely and then use a round edge sander and it will look great. I put enough in so i could sand it down, the self leveling might be good enough to scrape it off and get a nice clean sealer line. I dont know how the factory got a perfect seal but they only do a small corner, mine is a little fuller sealer in the drip rail.
