The big city taxes, crime, traffic, and homeless epidemic has worn me down, so I'm hightailing it to Chehalis WA this summer. I don't know anybody there, but I look forward to being closer to the beach and 1/2 hour from South Sound Speedway.

Any members or otherwise Mopar nuts in that area?

Best of both worlds, IMO. Half way between Sea and PDX. Best of luck with the move. Going to the swap meet this weekend?

I'm already faced with moving 10 cars including some non-op projects and a parts car, not to mention engines, transmissions, etc. etc. The last thing I need right now is more stuff from the swap meet!

This will definitely be the final move before the rest-home or graveyard (assuming I actually complete it without winding up in either).

Moving has to be one of my least favorite things to do. I empathize with you brother.

As for the swap meet, I go for the treasure hunt and the spectacle of the whole event. There is hardly anything MoPar let alone FL at these anyways, as I am sure you have experienced. Of the two hundred or so vendors last year I could count on one hand the people selling MoPar parts. (PIR show)

Don't blame you for wanting to move. I'm in McCleary, 20 miles west of Olympia - about 45 minutes from Chehalis. Nice area, rural, lots of rednecks. I go there once a week to babysit my granddaughter (a mile from the Speedway).

We cast a wide net looking for a new place which included McLeary and Elma too. Saw a straight axle gasser T-bird in McCleary and had lunch at the Rusty Tractor in fact

The good news for car guys with rust-prone cars is it never rains in McLeary OR Chehalis !

I do not envy anyone having to move, but getting out of The Swamp twenty years ago was
one of the best decisions I ever made.

Have you found a place? If not, the realtor my son used down there was very good. Try the Country Cousin restaurant in Centralia - similar to the Rusty Tractor but much better.

Hey Doc - I lived east of the big divide for a bit and still travel there often. It's nice no doubt, I just prefer the more moderate temps of the west side, the greenery, and quick access to the ocean beaches. I just make sure to get all my project cars from your side!

Thanks for the suggestions Darryl. We are closing on the new place next month.

I was back over to the Swamp this past weekend. I gotta say, I like the place
a whole lot better as a tourist just wandering around than someone who has to live,
work and keep a schedule there. The "homeless" camps are delightful, and I am
filled with the urge to defecate over the line of BS that local gov't peddles, as they
extort the taxpayers to pay for that circus.

The vertical slumshrooms popping up everywhere are obliterating the city as I
knew it. Some areas are sterilized of all traces of the landmarks I grew up with.
Lots of buildings and cars covered in that weird black/grey slime that grows on
everything there. You won't escape that in Chehalis. I once lived near Rochester,
about half way between Chehalis and McLeary. It was peaceful and quiet, but like
everywhere over there, got more rain and drizzle and dark and grey than my sanity
could handle. Winters run a little longer than I'd like in Spokane, but the rest of the
year is heavenly.

So, where around Chehalis did you land ?

I'm going to be in No-wheres-ville about half way between Chehalis and Pe Ell, so south of where you were.
