Hi everyone,

Thought I would introduce myself since I've been posting a few questions here and there and will need to continue! My story is a fun one, I'll try and keep the words to a minimum.

Way back in 1956, my dad purchased a brand new Fury from a dealership in Indiana. He'd always been a mopar guy, and when he saw the car he fell in love with it. This was less than 2 weeks after buying a station wagon from that same dealer, and the dealer thought he was crazy for buying a second car!

Fast forward to about 5 years ago and long after that Fury was gone, and I decided that I was going to find a 56 Fury to buy and restore for my dad. Well, a bit on the nieve side now knowing how rare these cars are. Anyhow, I never did find a Fury, but recently found a 56 Belvedere that I purchased and cleaned up a bit along with a brake job and new carpet. I gave dad the car a couple of weeks ago, and he's thrilled to start working on a few things to make it his own. This of course includes a desire to make it faster and look like his old Fury! First things first, I'm putting a brake booster and electric power steering in the car to help him drive a but easier. At 85 he could use the assisted amenities!

I'm not at all familiar with these cars or the engines, so thanks in advance for all of the help and patience. And for those that get frustrated with me, just know I completely understand! Attached is a pic of dad and his 'new' car.

Looks like a great car. Looks like Dad is doing pretty well too. Before you mentioned his age, I guessed 22 in 1956 so yup, born in 1934 = 85 this year (more or less)

Strongly suggest that you go to this website and download and save the 55-56 Plymouth Service Manual pdf

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=109

And while you are sort of there go here and download the 1955-58 parts manual. Very useful.

There is general Mopar "A" Engine info here:

That is one sweet looking Belvedere! Congratulations on a great find. I would change the side view mirrors & the hubcaps to the originals if it were me, but it looks great as it is too.
