Subject: 1956 plymouth headliner

Location: West Islip Ny		does anybody know what color the factory headliner was i have a piece but it turned yellow with age i remember grey
i dont think there was choices for the headliner the car is red and white dash was black on the top and cream color on the bottom seats white vinyl with black cloth and white and black door panels Thanks Mike

Location: So. Cal		Mine was a cream color originally, and it was a fuzzy cloth material (I don't know the proper name).

Location: Lower Mainland BC		Not saying that it is *THE* answer, but it is an answer, i.e. Chalk Paint. I've done my headliner with it. Headliner was disgusting. Now it it is almost nice.

Before (was originally a light blue, napped/brushed cotton, but by the time I got the car, dark, ugly and embarrassing):



After (much lighter, cleaner, and "perfectly fine for the girls that I go with" ) :

Location: So. Cal		My headliner looked like yours when I first purchased my car. I didn't have A/C in it as most of these don't, and I drove it with the window down to keep cool. Well, it eventually ripped it all up and blocked my view very badly so I had to rip it out. Hopefully that paint idea will make it strong enough to hold up under a strong wind.

Location: West Islip Ny		thanks guess beige might be the best color thats whats the dash is newstalgia parts have pre sewen napped cotton headliners should be able to put in in my car still has no windows or trim yet dont really want to trust anybody with the car have a lot of time into the resto the rest of the interior
seats and door panels i can hand somebody to redo that material has to come from sms Thanks Again Mike

With 3 coats of the Chalk Paint (with sanding between coats), the headliner is plenty wind proof. It pretty much feels like vinyl now.
