Does someone know the part number 1648107 what is for? A friend of mine with a 56 Chrysler is looking for the tailamp and that is the number he found, but is not matching my books for that particular piece. That number is not in my book either.

Thanks a lot

I have a Chilton parts Book that covers that era. Closest I can find to that number is 1642107 which is listed as Headlamp Door, exc. Windsor. Then I show Tail Lamp Lens for 56'Windsor #1689873- N. Yorker same as Windsor. 56' Imperial#1641939. hope it helps, John.

The raised number found on many cast parts is rarely the actual part number.

thanks a lot guys, both Johns and Chuck. Yes sometimes is the part number refers ad SOP (stamped on Part) which is usually the casting but not the assy. Still it should be in the Mopar books, but is not.

Apparently is the same for all the 56 cars. I learned something new today.

Yes, that's a casting number. It's part of a taillight assembly. It wasn't available by itself. The assembly is 1648106. Good news is that it's the same, left and right.

Casting numbers are generally the same a part numbers when the part is sold individually.

Ron
