Location: San Antonio TX | I know there are specific registries for certain vehicles like letter cars and Adventurers, but is there any current registry for all surviving Forward Looks in general? It'd be nice to have a record for any existing cars and their current/last known whearabouts, especially when it comes to the rarer variants of less prestigious models (ex: 1960-1961 Plymouth/Dodge hardtop wagons, cars factory equipped with long/short tube crossram that aren't letter cars, etc).

| I doubt it would catch on, whats the benefit? the two cars you listed are super rare beasts and extremely expensive.
The handful of owners are interested to see where they lined up. But if you car is 1 of 10k... not such an interest  |

Location: Southern Sweden - Sturkö island | To run a registry, is not a rewarding task. I have a registry of 1960 Chryslers in Scandinavia and I'll have to pry out info from the owners. If a car is sold, it's more like a rule that I'm the last to know it, even if I constantly ask the owners.
Any which way, the registry has helped me to understand more about decoding the 1960 Chryslers, since I always request the VIN and SON tag info as well as photos of the cars
Here should be a DeSoto registry as well, which I think is worldwide. |

Location: Hay Lakes, Alberta, Canada | And registries, even large ones, are never complete. Unless submitting information is made mandatory, you'll never get a majority participation.
You CAN have better participation with single year/make registries, like the 1958 Cadillac Owner's Association, to which I belong...but it's still a fractional representation of the cars that are out there. |

| A monumental task indeed do to something like that in the very least. It would be almost like requiring everyone in the world to register and with every passing nano second being updated to an international DNA data base. But even with some sites you can register your car. Now to that would someone verify the vin? Would someone be able to check and verify what options came with car and if they were dealer or factory installed? What about alterted vehicles? I only own 2 FL cars, and with that if not original they would not be counted. My '60 fury is a '60 fury car, but engine and drive train are not. My '56 Imperial is orginal, but not. It does not have the original heater fuel line, blower tube and some wiring and elctrial connections.
Now for FL vehicles it would easier by simply production number stand point in comparison what GM and Ford built. One thing I can say about the FL cars and a data base I would like to see, factory produced race cars that could be titled and registered. I think Chrysler was at the fore front of doing that as I have not really heard of of too many of the other makers doing that back then.
But yes a daunting task indeed. |
