I'd like to buy my first forward look car, I'm looking for a 56 Plymouth preferred 2 door, has to be running doesn't have to be original motor or transmission. No rusted out cars, california and surrounding area preferred. price range 7k maximum.

For a running and decent - not rotted out - Southwestern car you're probably looking at a 4 door in that price range.

I took some pics of this 56 belvedere 2dr at closed wrecking yard. If I remember right it looked complete and was told that it was running when parked. Can't speak as to any rust? I'm sure it's not rust free. It's. A project, it's located in Northern California. It was for sale but he didn't say how much. I will find out more if your interested?

Here are a few pics

I have a 1956 Belvedere 2 dr hardtop, with recently upholstered seats, and a new headliner & carpets in a box.
Engine is the original 277 V8, Powerflite transmission, runs well but should be rebuilt. New electronic ignition, fuel pump, new power front disk brake conversion (11"), gas tank clean, runs well, available with either 4 bbl & manifold, or 2 bbl & manifold. Exhaust is useable for transport but needs replacement.
New American Racing Torque Thrust wheels with new Radial T/As, or with standard wheels and tires with good stock full hubcaps.
Original black and white paint, much patina. Some rocker panel & rear quarter body rust, some rust in driver's floor but all repairable. Trunk floor has some rust, spare tub rusted out but replacement included.
Car was originally registered in Virginia, could be licensed for California. Car is presently in Victoria, BC, I can move it to Washington state for transport or drive home to CA.

I started restoring this vehicle, was ready to license it, then found a restored 56; now I have one too many!

Glen: Where were you when I was looking for a 56 Plymouth two years ago? I am happy enough with my 56 Dodge D500 Custom Royal that I found in New Westminster (where I live) but I would have bought your 56 Plymouth in a heart beat. I love those fins and tail lights.

Hi Dave

Wow... nice D500!

I was looking for a 56 Plymouth 2 dr HT for years; then found & bought two within four months of each other, early last year. Both are drivers; one a near-complete older restoration.

2dr wagon perhaps? Not mine, just came across it.

I also know where there is a red on black 4dr Belvedere V8. Seattle area, $7,000ish? It's been a couple of years since I spoke to the seller but I am sure it is still there.

I've seen that Suburban listed before... the price is very good, and it's a 2 door!

I have a '56 sedan that runs, I can send pics to you tomorrow after the rain lets up if you wish. The price is reasonable on it.
