Regular Posts: 53 | Selling my 1961 Desoto 4 door hardtop. This is a really clean Eastern Montana car with hardly any rust. Been sitting a while but complete minus radiator. The family I got it from lost the title so just sold with bill of sale. Hard to find these last year Desoto's. Asking $2500 and it is in Olympia, Washington. The damaged piece in the back is possibly fixable. Could we get some interior and trunk pics? Underside description? History? Edited by firedome 2019-01-12 10:08 AM | ||

I've always wondered how the front end could have been re-designed on the 61 Desotos, especially since the rest of the car is great looking. I'm guessing the top grille was done because without it, the car would have looked too much like the 59-60 Lincoln. I guess there wasn't a whole lot they could do though considering that Chrysler probably told minimize the sheet metal differences betweent the Chrysler and Desoto to save money.
Also, $2500 is a great price for such a rare and unsual car. I don't like the 61 Desoto nose, but I'd still probably buy this thing if I was close to it, and I'd still drive it around too. I guess you could say the 61 Desoto is an aquired taste.

Expert 5K+ Posts: 7382 Location: northern germany | I can understand why people do not like the 61, but like I said before the 61 Desoto looks sooo much better in person. It really is a great design and the upper grille is just perfect for a ram air system, like I installed in my 61 coupe.
