I had a request for the 1956 Dodge info so I found what I had and decided to scan the document that I had - which included 1954, 55/56 and 57/58 Dodge info. See below.

Anybody wanting a higher res image contact me via a PM here with your email address.

You sir continue to be a life-saving source of incredible information. I wouldn't be where I am with this project without your support.

This is very helpful. Out of curiosity, do any of your books show diagrams of the body and/or body mount locations?

I'm working with a fab shop in Charlotte, NC that has dimensions on a '55 Coronet and they're not matching what I measured on my '56. They're close, but my measured distance from the axle centerline to the forward-most body mount (basically at the firewall) is about 4 inches off. I'm trying to figure out who's right (and judging from the photo you sent above, it's me...) But I'm wondering if there are additional body-to-frame bolts in the front that don't have a protruding bracket as these drawings clearly show that I can't physically see from under the car.

Thanks again. I owe you way more than a beer...

I don't think that I do, just what is shown in that diagram. But I will look later today.

Great info. Thanks for posting. Is that gauge hole in the side used just as a dimensioning reference or is it used for other purposes during assembly too?

Never thought of that I just had a four page thing from somebody shop book.

I've checked my hardcopy 56 FSM and yes, they are there.

I've my electronic 55-56 Plymouth FSM and they are there.

I checked my electronic 58 Dodge FSM and they are NOT there.

I checked my electronic 57-58 Plymouth FSM and they are there.

Also there in the 58 Chrysler FSM (electronic).

If there is a desire I can post copies to this thread.

Floyd: See below for some of what you seek. For the others, go to MyMopar.com and download the appropriate Service Manual:

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=109

I presume that the Desotos will be the same as the Chryslers.

Found this while trying to organize all the 1956 Dodge info I have accumulated over the past 2 plus years.

This one has detailed dimensions.

.
I was out playing in the garage (painting my 56 Dodge's driver's side rocker panel) and while I had the car jacked up a bit (on the frame) (to give a better angle for painting), I got under the car (between paint coats) and got more serious about figuring out new cross-member brackets for my cast-iron Torqueflite installation project. As a result, I made some measurements of the frame just to the rear of the existing Powerflite cross-member (the new cross member will be about 3.5" to the rear of the existing one). I can confirm that the width of the frame at that point is pretty much 49 11/16" as advertised. The width of the box section of the frame at that point is about 5.5" so the space between the inner rails is about 38 11/16". The cross-member is 37 1/4" long/wide (depending on your point of view)
