What were the block changes for the A poly?

I have a 60 block and a bloke with a 62 wants an engine

Pretty sure they are the same block and crank ect, but thought I should ask

Hi
The block is the same but the crankshaft flange was changed after 1961 with the discontinuation of the cast Iron Torqueflite transmission as the Aluminum A-727 Torqueflite was introduced in 1962.

Actually, the bolt pattern also changed on the A poly between 61 and older vs. 62-66, not just the crank.

He would have to use a 392 to (whatever Tranny) adaptor.

i borrowed this from and old thread ------------------------------------------------------------later

61 was the last of the 8 bolt cranks, also the bellhousing dowel pins changed locations after 61..
62 and newer polys also had a different block casting on the lower right side of the block at the bellhousing (not as long) which does not allow use of the bottom bolt on that side .
