| Attached are pics of what I believe to be is a complete 1959 Chrysler AP set-up or Kit which should assist anyone that is wanting to see what is required.
You will notice a special cruise control vacuum tank which is different from a standard tank due to it's different location on the inner fender and how it mounts.
The tabs on the tank and mounting brackets are unique. In this regard, I have shown a pic of this tank mounted in position prior to its removal.
As you can see, the speed selector assembly is mounted in the steering column & I was able to obtain a self-sticking strip of numbers, 3-9 for the speed control Knob.
It appears there are more throttle rods than required shown, however should be sufficient to complete the assembly.
From my research, this Kit should be identical to a 1958 Chrysler AP.
The '58-59 Imperial set-ups should be the same except for the Controller Speed switch assembly which was mounted in the instrument panel or the dash.
I have taken lots of pictures should anyone wish to see more detail of any given component.

| Further to the AP Kit above which shows all of the necessary parts,
Here is a pic of a 1959 Chrysler Imperial engine compartment showing the auto pilot/cruise control components
Notice the relocation of the AP Vacuum tank & the mounting brackets which are identical to the ones in the Kit/additional pics shown above.

I have now located a copy of the very first issued Chrysler Corp'n Auto Pilot Service Bulletin (or Service Manual), which provides excellent details & photos
for both Chryslers & Imperials...
This Service Manual came out as Part 2 of a Service Bulletin dated August 17,1960 ..... BUT it also covers in detail the AP for both 1958 & 1959 AP model years.
Should anyone wish to have a copy of this AP 1958-60 Service Manual, let me know & I will e-mail it to you ... |
