Expert Posts: 1384 Location: Ocala, Florida | Our current side project. A 1957 DeSoto FireSweep Explorer 9 Pass. Unmolested one owner Texas car. Was in a field since 1971. Factory turquoise/black. Just going to patch the few holes in the floor/new interior/drivetrain and drive it. Factory a/c, 325 four barrel car. We have a 341 on the shelf though ready to go in. Should be a fun driver soon. Interior is currently out being upholstered. ...and dont worry the wheels arent staying. Expert 5K+ Posts: 9900 Location: Lower Mainland BC | pennerdodge - 2018-08-09 8:33 AM Great colour combination! this is a great looking car. Minty Green and black - one of the classic 57 colour combos (pink and black, turquoise and black, yellow and black, etc). I presume Firesweep Mist green and black in this case Some Shopper details: https://www.flickr.com/photos/argentla/sets/72157622002126753/ https://www.motoexotica.com/inventory/listing/1957-desoto-firesweep-... Veteran Posts: 157 Location: bountiful, Utah | Randy, I just saw that you found a 1957 Explorer. I have one also that came from a barn in Wyoming. Mine is orange and white. Does yours have the gold and black interior? I've never seen anything else but that color in the 57 Desoto wagon. does anyone else on this site have a 1957 Explorer? Oh, by the way, thank you so much for your help with the rear seat in my 57 royal 2 door several years ago! Scott in Utah

It was the only interior you could get in the FireSweep wagons for some reason! Would love to see pics of yours! Rare machines...and no problem!!

Expert Posts: 1384 Location: Ocala, Florida | Going with a turquoise and black interior. It's going to be a driver so no need to be fully correct. Rust repair almost complete. My father's excellent work. I'm currently in college so I haven't had a chance to get too down and dirty with this car yet, like the Plaza. I also was able to get in contact with the previous owners son who was in the car when the engine died in 1972! He did know exactly what the issue was, just that the cost to fix outweighed the value, so it was parked. Expert Posts: 1384 Location: Ocala, Florida | Getting back on the wagon project after a hiatus. Fully rebuilt 341 going in with dual quads. Clearcoated to preserve the look. Complete new interior ready to go in, and wiring begun. Should prove to be a great Carlisle road trip car in the future... Expert 5K+ Posts: 9664 Location: So. Cal | Nice, great motor you chose for it. Are you sure you have enough room to get the pipe from those headers going in the right direction without going under the steering? I haven't tried those, but that's my fear with trying to use them. I lived with my exhaust under my Savoy steering for quite a while until it became completely smashed from all the speed bumps and other smacks. The original choke for that setup uses heat from a tube on the exhaust manifold. Might be difficult to get it to work without it.
