Veteran Posts: 161 Location: Melbourne, Australia | Just thought I'd add a few photos of my 1960 Dodge Phoenix. I bought her down from NSW about a year ago. She is an older resto but still looks and drives great which is a credit to her previous owner, Neville. 440 motor, original tranny, 9" rear end. Four wheel discs and rack & pinion steering. Veteran Posts: 161 Location: Melbourne, Australia | Yeah Matt, time marches on. The years move faster the older you get. Before I drive up in this I will have to arrange a bank loan to pay for the fuel...... Thanks Terry.

And that's where the little beast shined.. run on the smell of an oily rag! I still get surprised at how thirsty my old girl can get on some runs.

Veteran Posts: 161 Location: Melbourne, Australia | Hi Marc, the disc conversion was all done by the previous owner himself, I believe. All sourced from local Ford parts. Stub axles are XA-XC Front Calipers are XF Rotors are XD Rear Calipers and rotors are ZH Still has the std booster but it is helped out by a VH44 remote. After 20 years of use they still stop the car easily.

Veteran Posts: 267 Location: Sydney | Thats fantastic, I would love to do something with my brakes but have no idea which way to go with them :-( Thats all a bit beyond my knowledge level and I cant find anyone to consider doing it or even helping or selling me the parts

Way better to work with original hubs or later model Mopar disc hubs with the original bearings. Less trouble, too. And why a 9" rear end? It's no better and less efficient than the original rear, onto which it is possible to graft discs anyway. Not that discs are warranted in the rear, I definitely prefer decent size drums so you have a good handbrake.
