Friends, today I recreated a photo taken of me as a 16 year old in 1976 with my 1958 Coronet. Exact same location in our city park, at the tennis courts.
My grandfather purchased the Dodge new, and passed away in 1966. The car was kept, and found a new home with me so many years ago.

Thank you, Fins and Savoy! I believe the car has aged much better than I

Very nice pictures and history - so, how many years did you own the car now?

If someone gave you all the care and maintenece you gave the car, you would look the same as in the old photo

I’ve owned the Dodge since age 26 in 1986 when my dad transferred the title to me. It was my first car long before that, learning to drive snd operating it on private property when I was young. The car wears one repaint, in 1976, in the original colors. It was sold to my grandfather by the Weinsz Motor Co. in Dover Ohio on Feb. 28, 1958. Interestingly it was delivered from the factory in the basic two tone scheme of gold roof and yellow body. The dealer converted it to deluxe two tone by painting the deck lid and fins gold. They also installed a radio. In 1975 the Dodge had about 52,000 miles and it now shows 86,000 miles. It has a 325 2bbl V8 and Powerflite.

Wow!  Those are two really cool images!  I would love to see more images - with that low mileage, I bet the interior is fantastic.  I was going to ask about the paint scheme, but it was hard to tell exactly what color the fins are in the older image.

Great stuff!  I love those Coronet Club Coupes.  My first car was a '58 Royal Lancer four-door!  I had it from about 1985 to 2013.  Eggshell and Gold.

Not sure if you intended that other people would post photos or not but I thought I would share my photos:

The first one is me and my Dad in March 1956 shortly after he purchased a one year old 55 Canadian Dodge Regent (251 flat head, 3 on the tree). I was 4.9 years old (birthday in early May). The second one is probably April 1960 just before my younger sister was born (I'm out there in a red sweater and blue jeans behind my older sister on the train tressel and would be 8.9 years old). That car became mine in the fall of 1966 and I started driving it legally shortly after my 16th birthday in 1967. The third photo is me last November with my "new" (work in progress) 56 American Dodge D500 Custom Royal 4dr sedan.

Great photos and history D500! Thanks for sharing! Anyone is welcome to post Forwardlook history on my thread.
I am so fortunate to have acquired my Dodge so long ago. My son enjoys the car also and will soon be taking his infant son for a ride. 5 generations!

Cool car. DId the top and fins get a respray sometime in the years between 1976 and now, or is it because the color on the old photo has faded over time?

Its really so cool to see the photos of someones car from back when and still owning the same car today. Really says something about originality...

58 Desoto, yes the roof and fins were resprayed in 1977. The original color was gold and the respray is more of a light brown. I recall the gold was not available in acrylic enamel that the body shop wanted to use, and my dad and I chose this color (I was only 17; today I would paint it in the original color of course)

Thank you all for the kind comments!
Mark
