Hi All!

I am in the process of refurbing my Throttle & transmission linkage for my 1955 Dodge Custom Royal Lancer and in the need to replace my worn out rubber Insulator bushings and replace the rubber boot for the shift linkage that goes through the firewall. I have looked at Gary Gooers & Andy Bernbaum but they only go back to 1957. The bushings I have are dry rotted & very loose causing as lot of slop in both the dash shifter and the gas pedal throttle. Any suggestions as to where I can obtain replacement parts? Please see attached shop manual linkage diagram Thanks in advance!

A common hardware store rubber grommet will often suffice for the original bushing.

Thanks for the tip. I'll post a picture should I come across a match.

Took apart the rusty throttle linkage, cleaned, sanded and re-plated with zinc and yellow chromate with a dull finish. The shaft was worn fairly bad and the rubber bushing was totally dryroted. I went to Lowes to their hardware section and could not find an exact fit bushing but finally came across a slightly larger bushing. Used a Dremel with a round sanding drum and sanded the bushing outer edge until it made a tight fit in the engine head bracket. Also came across a metal sleeve that fit inside the bushing and fit on the worn shaft to act as a bearing of sorts. Pushing the metal sleeve in the rubber bushing made the bushing tighter on the bracket. It now rotates freely and although not factory looks ok.

Thanks again for the tip on using bushings from the hardware store. I have still have a lot of work repairing the remainder of the Throttle & dash shifter linkage bushings.
