Pretty neat video. People don't realize that Chrysler was the first to put a tuned intake manifold on production automobiles, something that is standard nowadays. As an old fudd, I remember the sensation the /-6 and the ram-inducted V-8s caused when they came out. That 225 CID mill with the "Hyper-Pac" (special cam, 4-barrel carb, etc.) on the Valiant made it a real screamer which was demonstrated in the first (and only) NASCAR compact race at Daytona: I believe six Valiants were entered and they took the first six places. Bill France's anti-Chrysler prejudice really took a hit with that.

Slant six ram induction
from the early 50s, but wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the first slanted engine with ram induction.

Yes, early Mercedes engineers were amazing. Many Americans (including myself) are unaware of everything they accomplished. Mercedes must have collected all of the good engineers to them and left all the idiots over at VW. Early VW cars are one of the worst designed vehicles ever to make it into production. And.....they left that crappy design alone for what 40 yrs? The lazy stinkin' *&**#! Car built in 1979 and it still doesn't have a freakin' oil filter! Do I sound bitter? It's because I am. I really hate those car-like objects they produced. That was truly Hitler's revenge on us.

Don't hold back, tell us what you really think about beetles Yes, I'm 100% with you, i grew up with them almost born in one and almost died in one (broken tie rod, car totally out of control, I was still a kid, my mother driving, factory fault, never received an apology).

If you think 57 FL rusted... Ha, look at VW's from the 50s to 70s, they rusted worse and unlike Mopars rusted badly in structural places like suspension components.
Why on earth one of the worst cars ever built was one of the best selling and most popular ever, is beyond me. These were gas guzzles too. In winters you frooze, or choked to death because of a leak in the heat exchanger (air cooled crap engine). Now they have a nostalgic childhood-touch for me but these cars were junk already when they roled off the assembly line.

But they stuck to the freaking swing axle for quite some time during that time. How to make a car more complicated without getting any advantage? Ask a german engineer.

I don't understand it either. Your statements are absolutely correct and all the bad aspects of them could easily fill this page. I'm glad you and I made it out of them alive.
