This 1956 DeSoto Firedome 4 door sedan will be up for sale soon. It is a 53K mile factory original with one poor repaint done many moons ago. Everything else is fantastic for being factory original - super solid with very little rust on the lower rear quarters and right rocker near the rear tire. More pics to come. Engine runs great and purrs like a kitten from a gas can through the factory mechanical fuel pump but the trans and fuel tank will be next on the agenda to be checked out as the car has been sitting for an unknown period of time. The interior is fantastic for being original including the carpeting, headliner, visors, vinyl seats (if you can believe that with no wear, splits, or separations front and rear), package tray, scuff plates, and kick panels. The matching tires, including the spare that's never been on the ground, are old Coker 7.60 x 15 WSW. All exterior moldings are present but some have minor dings here and there. The driver's door has a minor dent and the upper molding is dented along with it but is present and in place. Front and rear bumpers are rechromed. Factory trunk mat and cardboard liners are present but rough. Lights and horn work. All glass is very good to excellent and not cloudy anywhere.

Smitty plans on putting it on eBay when finished for around the $7K mark but will consider offers from interested parties on this forum and the NDC forum anytime.

Please call me 816-590-3685 or PM me.

A few more images. Got the new brakes for it and progress is being made. Should be driveable soon.

Couple more pics. Got it drivable now but no brakes - have all the parts including new wheel cylinders all around but not installed yet. Emergency brake works great. Please keep in mind the pictures do not show the true quality of the paint - it is not as good as it looks in the pictures - it really needs a decent paint job and the car would be close to show quality - at least to cruises, etc.

Will have some engine pics soon but we need to clean the engine compartment a bit. It’s the stock 2 barrel HEMI with no mods and still retains the factory air cleaner and "FIREDOME" spark plug wire covers.

It will make a great car for the money.

Not enough time to finish - still needs the brakes installed (have all the parts and the new master cylinder is installed), will need the fuel tank checked to see if it does need attention for old gas and possible cleaning, the rest is as you see it in the pics. 53000 miles, all original, very little rust - some bubbling on the lower rear quarters and RR rocker panel. Rechromed bumpers front and rear. Will need paint as the paint on the car is old and was not a very good repaint whenever it was done. Still has the original interior, headliner and visors, package shelf, trunk mat and liners. Tires look about like new but are very old bias ply. Smitty just needs it gone as there are too many projects to be concerned with.

Will take $5500 as is. Please call or email with questions: 816-590-3685 or fierofred@sbcglobal.net. Can send more pics - just let me know if there is anything specific.

$5500. That's probably a good deal (assuming the engine and trans are good). Nicer than my 56 Dodge D500 when I bought it (for more)

Thought we had it sold but evidently the potential buyer fell off the face of the earth - hadn't heard from him for over a week now.

Soooo - it's up for grabs at $5500. Runs great and drives. 53000 miles and all original except paint which it needs. Super solid with very minor rust on the lower rear quarters and RR rocker. Needs brakes (have all the parts) and the fuel system checked out - the car has been sitting for an unkown period of time.

$5500 and it's yours!

Car is for sale by the owner who bought it from Smitty. Still needs brakes but the fuel system is all cleaned out and is like new. Runs, drives, shifts, etc. but won't stop except with the ebrake. Asking $6500 negotiable?

Call Robert at 417-838-4967 if interested. Located in Springfield, MO.
