Canada - Rocky Mountains | At the risk of being wrong (again) or stoned at dawn because i really don't know but on other makes of cars you need the key and on the face of the tumbler is a small pin hole, while tuning the key towards (and past) the accessory position while pushing a small drill bit into the hole to release the pin. |

This is when someone should say that we need a shop manual. |

Location: Valley Forge, Pa. | IF you haven't removed it yet. I only know of 2 styles used during this era.
The style pictured is for my 60 Plymouth. Remove the dash bezel/nut that holds the switch to the dash and remove the whole switch.
Almost takes 3 hands but can be done or hold it in a vice. Push the brass pin on the side of the case, in. With the pin in, I used a ball point pen to push it in, turn the key[correct for that switch] to the start position while pulling the cylinder out.
To put the cyl back in, you will need the correct key. Put key in the loose cyl. Push on the brass pin with your thumb and turn the key until you will feel a spot where the pin will push in flush with the side of the cyl. Align the pin with the slot/groove on the inside of the case and push the cyl. in until the pin finds the whole. You may need to push in on the pin to get it started in the case.
My GM vehicles and maybe some MOPARs[?] have a small hole on the stainless face next to where you put the key.
You will need something longer than a pen like a small allen wrench or drill bit. With correct key inserted, push drill bit into hole and turn the key pull cyl out.
