Hi Guy's,

I'm starting to reassemble my 60 Fury do the door handles have a gasket between the outer handle & door panel ?
mine had nothing when I removed them just not sure if it's suppose to have gaskets or not.

Thanks Gra

I've noticed that on my car, my parts car, and all of the cars I've perused at shows.

What's up with that?

Obviously Chrysler didn't feel the need to gasket the handles (and some other components) for water intrusion, but how about to protect the paint from abrasion/chipping?

Even my '68 Satellite had handle gaskets, so obviously Chrysler learned there was some value to them by 1968.

I'm surprised some aftermarket company hasn't made something available - to my untrained eye it certainly appears that a gasket would be a good thing, and it seems like there were only a handful of door handle styles across many models/years . . . .

water intrusion is obviously not a problem as doors are not water tight and 99% of the water gets into the door via the gap between window and door. they didn't even try to seal it out since thats not a problem. the "window sweeper" is not a sealing. also a seal around the base of the 60/61 type door handles couldn't keep water out as it gets into the door thru the opening for the pull out handle.

none of the 60/61 doors i've ever seen had any rust problems around the door handle, so thats not a problem either, sure with new paints, that are less forgiving, or just to be sure, some sort of sealer can't be wrong.
