Expert Posts: 1476 Location: Pacific Northwest | https://www.ebay.com/itm/-/122914356341? Who is this seller? They keep coming up with some really fine cars. Claims to be "unmolested" yet fails to include interior pictures. I call tell that the seats have been recovered. Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | Certainly a beautiful car, and I'm not trying to pick it apart. However, I'd love to see the cowl tag, as the paint is unusual, with only the roof the different color. I've never, to my recollection, seen a gas-fill tube in the trunk that wasn't painted main body color, so it could be that the original color of this car wasn't white. BTW, despite the claim of the seller that the car's signal-seeking radio works, the car doesn't even HAVE the signal-seeking radio. Taillight towers (at least the right one) are from a 1958. Looks like repair work over the headlights, as would be expected for this car, and yes it has been reupholstered. Seems to be a great car, but sellers description may be a bit inaccurate. Expert 5K+ Posts: 5006 | yeah their description seems "knowledgeable" yet the car isn't matching 100%. Like they know about the roof package #1 and #2. I think your right about the repaint but thats expected.

Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | It is possible to have only the roof the different color, but is certainly rare. I hope my comments are the type you potential buyers want -- not trying to degrade the car in any way, just trying to point out issues or items of concern.

I'm curious to see where this ends up since I have an almost identical car. Hard to get values on original patina cars. ~Peter (20151106_112657.jpg) Attachments ---------------- 20151106_112657.jpg (147KB - 81 downloads)

Veteran Posts: 145 | I bought the engine and a lot of chrome pieces from a '57 Firedome hardtop in a salvage yard in Las Vegas, NM in 1974 . The car was maroon with a black top and maroon sweep. It also had the roof chrome package.

Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | Imp58Alpes, I believe that all dual-exhaust cars had the exhaust routed through the bumper ends. I honestly don't know about the single-exhaust cars. Every one I know of has the exhaust coming under the bumper now (including my own Firedome). The venturis were in my car's bumper ends, but no snaky exhaust extension indicating that the exhaust ever ran through there. I think it would be weird to have a single exhaust car routed through just one of the bumper ends, so it's my "guess" that all single-exhaust cars didn't use the venturis but exited under the bumper. I'll defer to anyone else's knowledge on this if there is a "for certain" answer.

Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | Roof was originally Sahara Tan, as was the lower color sweep. The main body color was Spice Brown. Seller sent me a pic of the cowl tag. (cowltag_ebay01-2018_s25.jpg) Attachments ---------------- cowltag_ebay01-2018_s25.jpg (205KB - 88 downloads)

Elite Veteran Posts: 626 Location: Lubbock, TX | So the car was fully repainted and colors reversed at some point? Seems odd since all the door jambs and edges are color matched and patina'd. Unless this color swap happened back at the dealer?

Expert Posts: 1488 Location: New Castle PA | I'd say the car is a lot less original than presented, and was obviously repainted at some point (not at dealer).

I know of another all white Firedome that was here in Texas. My sedan is a factory XXX Sahara Tan car. The sedan had the color sweep added by the dealer I presume based on the invoice. I don't know what the sedan looked like originally since it's been repainted with the roof and sweep Spice Brown. So I agree there aren't many, but there are a few out there. Expert Posts: 1324 Location: Hickory, NC | This seller always has cars to sell. Every FL car I've listed on ebay they've contacted me and tried to buy outside of the auction. I always tell them a high price and they never message me again. They seem to roam the auctions and classifieds and quickly make offers in the low range and then resell them for max profit. They always reach high figures.
