Are there records which would indicate, how many D 500 cars were built for model year 1957? If so are they by Models that had the D 500 engine?

It appears that the D500 (along with Super D) engines were numbered consecutively. The latest one in my records is KD500 19478 with a car schedule build date of 0903. This would indicate that 18477 or more were built.

Here's a bit of number sequencing with the 325 cu.in Hemi in my Coronet none original to the car

Greg does it work that less than 10% of 1957 dodge cars had a D500?

Using a residual factor of [2%] = D500 Hemi engines remaining 375 and 10% of this figure are in running condition which is an estimate of 35-40 actual KD500's engines. I don't know if this is fact/friction I'm just using the info relayed in the industry which is sometimes used by car appraisers and classic car interest groups. So all out I'm asking the same question here.My real question is here can I trace the engine serial#back to the car without knowing the vin? Has anyone on the forum done this before through the FCA

It is my understanding that FCA will NOT provide any info about any car unless the registration/title is in your name. So just an engine number but no VIN is very likely to be met with a "Sorry, no can do". But it never hurts to try (as long as the fee for trying isn't too high).

Based on my example car and at the time it was built, about 6% of Royals and Custom Royals were built with D500 engines. I don't know about Coronets.

According to the article "1957-59 Dodge : The Sexy Swept-Wings" by Jeffrey I. Godshall, in the August 1993 issue of Collectible Automobile, production of D-500 engines were -
1957 - 17,1782
1958 - 7,617
1959 - 4,822

1957 also saw 101 D-501 engines built.

No information available as to how many of each body style or series were built with a D-500. No D-500 models were built in Canada, although Chrysler of Canada was happy to order one for you if you could afford the import duties, excise taxes, etc. that were added to the cost of importing a car not built in Canada.

The 1958 and 1959 D-500 engines were actually the same engines as used in DeSoto Fireflites for those years (B block 361 V8 in 1958 and B block 383 V8 in 1959.)
