Because personal preference and taste overrides historical accuracy. People are going to do what they want to their cars for better or worse. I'm guilty of that at times, though usually the changes I like are functional rather than cosmetic.
Also, does anyone notice Chrysler's false advertising in their brochures? That Newport has a long wheelbase front end!

I see no problem in this. The style fits the fin era, as does the car (even though fins were passé in '61). The tires are the most replaceable of items, so if a buyer wants to follow a precision of originality, it is an easy "fix". |
