New User Posts: 3 | I dug out of the barn a -477 numbered manifold, painted RED. No silver or any other color underneath. Am I correct to assume this is a New Yorker manifold, not a 300-car manifold? So RED would be the correct color? If I spend the time/money to do it, would like to do it right the first time. Next question: what are the correct carb numbers? Mine are missing the tags....(will be looking for repros if they exist....) TIA, Superflorida

Location: Under the X in Texas | Is the manifold marked "SPECIAL" on the bottom side? I think your manif was in a tank, stripped all the silver paint, then painted red. Chicago Corvette is one company who can make new brass tags for WCFB carbs to your info.

New User Posts: 3 | LOL, no, I wish! Thought I read elsewhere that the NY'er version was red to match the motor rather than the silver of the 300 cars........ btw; this is the "squished" version for hood clearance... Edited by SUPERFLORIDA 2018-01-04 5:52 PM

Yes, exactly, the '57-58 intake manifolds are all lower profile (low rise?) to gain clearance for the lowered hoods of '57-58 compared to the '55 and 56 car.

I had my WCFB rebuilt/restored back in the fall of 2016 and it was beautiful (factory appearance) but was lacking the brass tag so that mention of Chicago Corvette is much appreciated. I emailed Chicago Corvette Thursday night re: WCFB tags and they emailed back and said to phone in and talk to "AL". So I did Friday AM. As soon as I said "2443S" (for my D500), Al said "Chrysler product" and I said "Yup. 56 Dodge D500". The deal was done. $39.95 on VISA, shipped within 10 days. Location: Under the X in Texas | SUPERFLORIDA - 2018-01-05 10:22 PM OK, OK, I give! Red is Wrong....... Any and every high heat silver paint out there in the market is suitable. There was variation in the factory color from approaching metallic light gray to more often an aluminum looking silver. What it must not be is any of the silvers that look like cheap chrome spray paint. No Mopar engine ever looked that funky.

A picture is worth a thousand words parts and numbers are worth 1000's …………LOL We've been around and around on this 1733 477 57-58 Chrysler 300 2 x 4 bbl intake manifold. From the Parts Catalogue: I think that it was best answered by StillOutThere: StillOutThere - 2017-07-11 4:19 PM 1733 477 had to be used on these '57 cars because it has a lower rise than the '56 300B intake. The lower '57 hood clearance required it whether Chrysler or Dodge installed. Now, there are TWO dual quad intake manifold castings carrying PN 1733 477. However only one is in the parts books. The production intake for the 300C cars with 375 HP is that PN. For the 390 HP 300Cs the same part number appears on a dual quad intake cast with NO center heat passages (solid cast iron "heat chamber" under carb). These were race only. They are additionally cast with raised "SPECIAL" on the underside center of the manifold. If someone gets a inspection of the D-501 car, take along a reach mirror and see if the bottom of the intake looks like my photo. I have one of these intakes for my 390 HP Kiekhaefer Road America competition coupe.
