Bumped into this video looking for something else. Works. I might have used it on my 56 Dodge a) if I had found it before and b) if the original sound deadening was thicker. Be interesting to see if if works on the stuff on the inside of the doors. Thought that I should share the video.

IMO, there's totally no reason to remove any factory coverings (inside or out) that still have a very good bond with the metal.
Of course it's a different matter if the coating is already chipping and breaking away.

I placed some sound deadening sheets on my '73 Dart from 'Colad' which worked nicely too in taking away a lot of the metal drum sound when you tap on it on larger surfaces.
