I have my 325 Hemi motor torn down for a rebuild and seem to be having some problems locating pistons in 40 over. Egge is out and won't be making any soon. Falcon Global on ebay has the size but doesn't know if they are poly only. So, its a crap shoot if I order a kit from them. Are the pistons the same as a 325 poly? What should be the compression distance on the Hemi piston? Thanks in advance.

The factory piston PNs for the 56 315 and 57 325 D500 engines do not cross to non-hemi engines. Furthermore, they only seem to have come in Std size, 0.005 over and 0.020 over.

My engine has .030 over in it currently. So, somewhere in the past there was a source.

I didn't know about them. I'll give them a call.
Thanks for the info.

Stock compression ratios suck. I would purchase custom pistons instead. It will be another 3-4 hundred dollars, but well worth it for the extra compression.

So stock compression is 9.25:1 What would you recommend taking into consideration that we only have 91 octane gas in California?

I wouldn't go past 9.50 without octane boost.

Cast pistons, from wherever, will be at the oem c/r and, keep in mind, that the listed c/r is very optomistic....rarely accurate.
We sell custom forgings for most of the Hemi/Poly headed engines for about $800 so compare to the cost of castings to decide if an upgrade is worthwhile.

We regularly use 10:1 in rebuilt Hemi engines w/o issues but limit the Spitfire to 9.5:1 for most customers. The fuel quality seems to vary around the country, odd in that it mostly comes from the same refineries.....

If oem cast type pistons are desired then also look at Kanter as a supplier. I do believe that most castings come from the same manufacturer so the only difference is the markup.

I ran 10.5:1 in my 392 without issues. The 361 BB in my '58 DeSoto has 10:1 and even it does fine on Mid grade or Premium. I am not certain, but I would bet that the hemi could run 11:1 on Premium. I think the new motor I built for my '57 New Yorker has about 11:1, so we'll see how it does.
