Looks great! If I wasn't holding out for a DeSoto I'd probably have made an offer.

Wow the car looks good! If only they had brought these to Australia (in RHD)........................
The problem is of course we would need to pay $28,000 today for this car!

Steve.

Well so much for holding out for a Desoto. I made an offer and he accepted! I really couldn't pass it up for the price and how clean it is.

Congratulations! What are your plans for it? If you would like a set of bumper guards, they are not hard to get. The '57 Windsor 2-tone trim is a little harder to get, but you can get that too if you would like to put it on.

Congrats!

You could put Saratoga two-tone trim on it, and make it into a Canadian Windsor

Honestly I was thinking about putting Desoto bumpers and trim on it. Not sure about that yet, but if it involves any significant modifications to the sheet metal, I'm ruling it out. I don't want to make any major or irreversible changes in case I ever decide to sell it. If I stick with Chrysler trim, the bumper guards are definitely a must!

Either way, my plans are to keep it a cruiser. I use my 61 Windsor as a cruiser right now, but once I get the 57, I might make my 61 into a muscle car-esque restomod since it's already got too many unorigial parts on it already. Plus, I think the look of both cars suits the direction I want to go with them. The 57 is practical and conservative looking (relatively), and I think the stock configuration fits that well. The 61 is more sporty and aggressive looking and has only two doors, so I think a performance based restoration would go great with those angry looking canted headlamps and and jet fighter-like fins.

The Saratoga trim looks great! I'll have a really hard time deciding whether or not I want the Saratoga or Windsor trim since both look so good in two tone. If I get Desoto bumpers and trim, I'll still have a really tough time choosing between the 57 and 58 Desoto two tone schemes. The 57/58 Desoto two tone schemes are just so beautiful! Quite possibly the best multi color paint schemes ever in an era where two and three tone cars were common.

If you're interested in a set of front and rear bumpers with guards, I have two sets I'd be willing to sell or trade for your smooth ones. I'm in Fort Worth, and travel to Austin regularly.

I also have all the trim for a '57 New Yorker 4dr. Might be a nice option if Desoto trim turns out to be difficult to locate. I have a ton of parts, just let me know if you're looking for anything.

Great score! Enjoy it.

You can swap to DeSoto, but be aware that you need DeSoto fenders too. They are different. You also need all the inner bracketry & grllle etc. But if you really want a DeSoto, just buy one when it pops up, and then you can sell this one off.

Thanks! I will enjoy it! I talked him down to $6500, so I also think it was a pretty good score.

I'll be contacting you once I get the car. I'm also looking for a stock air cleaner to replace that chrome one in the ad.

I had no idea that it would requrie so much to swap them. They look almost identical except the bumpers and trim!

Also, that's exactly what I am planning to do. I'm going to hang onto this, and if a nice Desoto pops up, I'll either trade for the Windsor or just sell the Windsor.

Miles, that is a great looking car! De Soto, Shme Soto! That's a Saratoga, isn't it?

It has a Windsor emblem on the rear quarter and the seller says it is a Windsor. But it does have Saratoga side trim. So it could be a Canadian Windsor, or someone may have added the Saratoga trim on it.

I'll post the VIN and data plate when I get it so we can figure out what it is exactly.
