Elite Veteran Posts: 689 Location: Winston Salem, N.C. | hi 56 plymouth and 56 dodge steering wheel center chromed horn rings--are they interchangeable? mine is the "standard" style steering wheel. As happens so often, the top half of the horn ring on my plymouth has broken off in years past and is missing. Thank you for your help. jerry whitfield winston salem NC Edited by jerrybev 2017-09-19 12:15 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | The ring on the standard '56 Plymouth steering wheel is integrated with the center section (and yes, the top ring seems to eventually brake on all of them, maybe use the ringless Plaza center section). On the 55-56 Dodge steering wheels (both basic and deluxe) the ring and center are two separate parts. I think I have an unattached Plymouth steering wheel at home so I will try to see if the two piece Dodge setup will fit on the Plymouth wheel.

Location: Binghamton NY | Jerry, i don't know if you got the information you needed but the dodge desoto rings are much bigger than the plymouth ones and the center won't mount to the steering wheel. They look and are styled similar, but they are not a match. The two supports pieces that have the grooves are at a different angle, the rings radius is much bigger, and the centers mount differently. If you find a dodge kingsway, it should fit though. They are hard to find but most have the full ring like yours had. Do you have the broken piece still?

Elite Veteran Posts: 689 Location: Winston Salem, N.C. | hi thanks for reply, very informative. I found a good horn ring. To answer your question, I still have the old one but only the lower half. Elite Veteran Posts: 792 Location: Buena Park, CA | Jerrybev, Just saw your post about the "powerflite" badge. My parts car does not have it. I think the "Powerflite" badging was only on the early cars, because my "late Los Angeles built" '56 Belvedere does not have the badge either.
