First, you need to download this searchable (Ctrl F) 1955-58 Mopar parts catalogue:

http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/partscatalogs/55to58_Mopar_Parts_C... (I use it a lot).

It is 1268 pages and is searchable via CTRL F.

For this example I have chosen to look for the water pump outlet hose on a 1958 Chrysler

To do this, I need to find the diagram (Plate) that shows the cooling system including the water pump and radiator. (You can scroll or start searching for PLATE).

When you find the right diagram, you will see that the hose is in Section 7-14-5.

So I used CTRL F and enter 7-14-5 and click on Next.

When I find 7-14-5's parts listings, I note that the PN I need is 1730 915. So I markdown that number (or highlight it and right click copy it) and head off to the internet to see if I can find the part.

First stop is Len Dawson's Deception Pass Motor Parts website. I enter the PN 1730915 (no spaces) in his search page and hit Search for Parts.

http://www.dpmotorparts.com/inventory_4_a.cfm

In this case, I came up dry.

So the next one I try is Collectors Auto Parts http://collectorsautosupply.com/Check%20Your%20Part%20Number.htm

Same thing: enter the PN (no spaces) and hit Search.

In this case, there was a positive response.

If I didn't get a response, I would try

Mopar Mall: https://www.moparmall.com/1955-1959-Passenger-Car-Parts-s/40.htm
(came up dry there too)

eBay: https://www.ebay.ca/ or https://www.ebay.com/
(came up dry)

So back to Collectors Auto to give them a call (in theory, this was just an example)

okay first of all realize "collectorsAutoSupply" are just Len Dawson parts marked up ALOT it seems (and out of date). sneaky huh?

But you can always try. He will send an email to Len to get a price... maybe he has more parts but It looks like he just "scraped" lens site and put it into a web page...

All his ford and GM vendors are just that... He simply contacts someone else and marks it up a ton...

For example here is a parts I just bought off of Len Dawson.... These are RARE AS HEN'S TEETH its a Regal Lancer quarter panel molding. There is no way on earth two vendors would have these same parts? Len has just updated his site to remove them. Takes about 3-4 days.

Yet somehow collectors auto supply has the same parts in stock as Len has and all three

B-75 1 1863446 RF FEND UPPER MLDG D 58 REGAL LAN 100$
B-75 1 1884769 L QT PANEL SIDE (ABOVE LOWEST) MLDG D 58 REGAL LAN H’TOP 175
B-75 1 1884770 R QT PANEL LOWER MLDG D 58 REGAL LAN H’TOP 125

Moparmall can go jump in a lake 180$ for a TRUNK LOCK? cmon...

Here is how my search goes.

used or new... I'm just looking for anyone that has the part... start praying and realize the rarity of the part you need and how much it will cost.

1. Ask Big M (John M if you can handle used), search ebay and this site, ask and search for partouts, suspension or if mechanical and need new? head directly to Rockauto or Bernbaums,
(search on 57-58 Plymouth on rockauto, then then narrow down if possible), if a moog/acdelco part # check the numbers on amazon and ebay also but rockauto always wins on price typically.
HATE "RARE PARTS" RIPPOFF TAKE MOOG parts and MARKUP 400% ahole(he posts on amazon and pst)... he's been ripping people off since forever...
PST is only good for a few parts(inner links I think I had to go to them), got a hemi go to Hot heads! Other engine stuff is typically on ebay or amazon.
2. search facebook with searchtempest(iffy), check out Sweden parts and Gary Goers.
3. still no luck? check out len dawson, murray park, other new part vendors, Oldmopars.com?(total long shot). its getting more expensive and its going to hurt at this level
4. Still no, stalk this site and set up ebay alerts and I have a couple contact in my back pocket but I'm not giving those out

I know that. Len's and my local NOS Mopar parts guy, Ron Whiting, have their inventories computerized and Collectors has all the data.

*IF* I find it on Collectors I phone Ron first in hopes that he has it. Like you say Collectors prices are high.

I mostly just wanted to share how to find PNs using that pdf.

Once you find the part number, search e-bay with that number.
I list all my parts by part number ie NOS Mopar #xxxxxxx

Good luck!!

Sure. I just want to reiterate to anyone reading this thread that once you find your part number, e.g. 1612 345, in the pdf, when you do any other searches Collectors, Len Dawson, Bernbaum, Mopar Mall, eBay or just plain old Google, you should NOT put the number in the search with the Mopar blank, i.e. 1612 345 gets searched as 1612345, and, if you have a descriptor or year, add that too, e.g. 1612345 1956 Dodge.

Good hunting!

Dave F.

I always start my search with Google, I just enter "Mopar 1730915" and let them search the various sources.

The searchable pdf that I am using (right now in fact as I try to track down 57-58 oil cooled Torqueflites) has zero smell. At least until, a burp or fart while sitting here at the computer

It might be time to go to the top of this thread and have a look.

While I am here, I will suggest the addition of the 1950-65 Mopar Parts interchange pdf. Also searchable. Not always successful but still handy enough to have available.

Go here and scroll down to find the link, download and save:

Can you find intake rocker arms for a 1955 259? And push rods?

Why yes I can. And more importantly, so could you by reading above and following the steps.

First thing was to find the parts diagram for a 55-58 Single Rocker valve train (see below).

That flagged the rocker arms in section 9-43-1. Searching for 9-43-1 gets you there where you find the intake rocker PN 1552 964 for the 55 Plymouth and Dodge V8s (since the Plymouth V8 was actually from Dodge in 1955 that made sense).

So then I Googled "1552964 Intake rocker arm Dodge". That came up with a few hits but the most promising was one on eBay:

https://www.ebay.ca/b/Mopar-Vintage-Car-Truck-Engine-Valves-Parts-fo...

And scrolling through that list lead to this:

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Mopar-NOS-Engine-Intake-Valve-Rocker-arm-55-...

Searching with the PN at Len Dawson's Mopar parts site turns up at least one:

http://www.dpmotorparts.com/inventory_4_b.cfm

Loc Quanity Part # Description Application Price
S-74 1 1552964 INTAKE VLV ROCKER W/ 8 CYL P, D 55 7

Hilltop didn't have any.

The next exercise would be to find the 1557 134 push rods in Section 9-42-1, but you can handle that now, right?

Thanks for sharing this 56D500. This is extremely helpful. I have already downloaded the catalogue. I have the service manual but this parts catalogue has exploded views which really helps me figure out how things go together. This is really nice. And it's free. It's almost hard to believe. Thanks a lot for this. I'm saving this thread...

Sorry about this folks, I failed to post the index for the pdf that I created and posted in a related thread.

I use the index to drag down to the page at the start of the section, for example, "Group 19 Steering" starting on page 573, and then start the investigation.

This index (right click copy the image and then save it somewhere and print it off and keep it handy to your computer):

First posted in this thread:

Again, sorry. I will give myself 30 lashes (with a wet noodle) for this error.
