There's a group of DeSotophiles that get together each year in Ohio for a family-style picnic. This is not a show, or a cruise, or anything other than a gathering of like-minded friends and their cars (all DeSotos). This year there were only 11 cars, but 3 were 1957 models. This link should (hopefully) take you to a few pictures should you care to check out the '57s. You can see a few other cars in the background, but I'm a one-year kind of guy and my 1957 DeSoto website features only that year of cars.

Ed, thanks for sharing. I would love to make it to the 3D picnic someday, but it's too far to justify!

What is the black one on the far end? What body style is the red '58? Strange that there are no '52-'56 there that I can see.

The black one is a 1960 Adventurer sedan, and the '58 is a Fireflite Sportsman 2-dr HT.

(NOTE: If you read this entry before Saturday 8/18/2017 at about 10:20 EST, I said the '58 was a Firedome. My bad. It is definitely a Fireflite.)

Non-DeSotos are parked in a marked area labeled as such, not with the DeSotos. It's really only a DeSoto picnic, and pretty much by invitation only. Not snobbish in any way, but it's on a private property, so we try to have just car owners and families there and not the general public like you would have for a show or a cruise in a public setting. If any DeSoto owners want an invitation, I'll gladly hook you up with the right people so that you can attend.

And THANKS, Moparsteve, for the kind words. My restorations are only to driver quality, although I do show the cars. There are a lot of folks on this site who have done WAY more and WAY better work than mine. I knew/know my budget, and did what I could to get the cars presentable within that budget.

Thanks for the kind words Ed!

I have seen all of Ed's cars in person and he is being modest. They are all very nice cars and I know he did a lot of the work himself!

I love his Firedome colors and for sure learned some things from the Fireflite pages!
