Hey all,

I'm having trouble adjusting my drivers side front door latch to allow the outside handle to open the door properly. No matter which way i move the slide connecting the outer handle to the latch, it doesn't go far enough up to allow the latch wheel to free spin. Anyone else having this problem or know how to remedy it?

Hi Jacob,

You may need to replace your latch assembly. The tumblers inside are made of a poor pot metal, and they wear. Once you run out of adjustment, you are pretty much SOL. There was a thread on this a couple of years ago. I'll see if I can dig it up...

Jacob, I run into this all the time because the different linkages and stuff wear out, and was at the end of it's adjustment when it was new etc. I just took the latch out of the door and cut the slot out longer to give it more adjustment. That's all it needed and it works well that way.
