Our 59 Firesweep(361 4bll AFB,Pertronix converison with coil) runs rough after it sits for a week or two.As it warms up it runs smooth, also the idle speed increases to the normal rpm.The manifold choke opens fully when warmed up.The engine timing is set to factory.Could this be a gas evaporation problem or something else? Thanks ahead.

idle speed should DEcrease when hot. next time after a cold start (ac housing off) watch the choke plate and play around with it, closing or opening it slowly. my guess is a weak or incorrect adjusted choke coil or binding linkage.

Does it smoke when it is first starting too? Often, if you have badly leaking valve seals, you can get a puddle of oil built up in the intake that must burn out before it runs well.
