Hey guys,

I'm new to the site, so I'm hoping I can get some help.. I have a '55 Belvedere convertible, and I'm trying to find the core support and the lower front valance or filler panel behind the bumper.. My question is, what is compatible with the '55 Belvedere, for these particular parts? I have a couple leads, and one is from a 56 Dodge.. will it work?

I've had this car for about a year now, I'll get a build thread started on it so I can show progress soon, although, there's not much to show yet as it's still pretty much how I found it.. The chassis is finished, new everything front to back, it has a poly 318 and an automatic, not sure which one, although the car is an automatic car, and they are supposed to be fresh but yet to be determined, looks more like a fresh paint job on the engine, lol, and it isn't even mounted yet, just sitting in (on) the frame.. quarter panels were replaced and are in primer, and the rest of the tub front to back is completely solid. I went through all the trim over the winter and I have way more than I need, most of the excess came from a 2 door coupe, so, eventually I will be offering up what I don't need, but you guys will have to be patient, I work out of state most of the year, and I am currently in NE Pa, for the season, and I have a rather large garage build to undertake over this coming winter, so I won't have much, if any, time to work on the car.. it will be a slow process until I get my garage finished, and then we'll get down to the bones of it!

Thanks for any, and all help!

Welcome to the board.

According to the factory Parts Manual, the '55-'56 Plymouth core support (they call it a yoke) part number is 1599920 and the '55-'56 Dodge is 1599478. Don't know what the physical difference is.

2nd on the welcome. There aren't too many 55-56 Dodge/Plymouth folks on here so we need to help each other out as much as possible

The 55 -56 Plymouths rad supports/"yokes" will all be the same, Savoy, Belvedere, etc. The shape of the hood changes between 55-56 Plymouths and Dodges so the shape of the rad support will change too.

Mr.Convertible, you should down and save this searchable (ctrl F) 55-58 Mopar parts catalog: http://moparcarparts.com/instructions/55to58_Mopar_Parts_Catalog.pd...

I just used it to search 1599 920 and pulled up this page:

There are illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. So you take the code (7-26-4) and see where that is located on the assembly. Also, the catalog is in the form of a pdf, which may not work if you are using your phone to read this site, instead of a laptop or desktop.

MrConvertible - 2017-07-16 6:07 PM Thanks for the replys, guys! 56D500BOY, I cannot get the link to work

The link works. I checked it before I posted it via "Preview" and I checked it again after I posted it with "Submit". I also checked it just now before I answered your post. The link works.

When you do get the link to work for you (not on a phone), it is a 1268 page pdf. Save it to your computer and access it off your hard drive. On page 211 of 1268 there is the 7-35-0 listing for the Radiator Stone Deflectors. The 55 and 56 Plymouth (all Plymouths and nothing else) stone deflector part number is 1695 989 (the pdf search with Ctrl F wants the space)

I searched google with 1695989 (no space) and "stone deflector" and found http://www.collectorsautosupply.com/query.asp?section=BODY&year=0&m...

Good luck.

You can download a parts manual from:

http://www.mymopar.com/index.php?pid=107

The illustrations in the manual are often ambiguous, what we call the "valance" has a different name on different models.

Maybe the direct pdf link worked for me because I already have it on my harddrive, the Mymopar link:

http://www.mymopar.com/downloads/partscatalogs/55to58_Mopar_Parts_C...

Should work as a download, then Save in an appropriate file folder and access at leisure.

The hard copy 56 Mopar parts book has better illustrations but it is not electronically searchable (obviously)

Yes, you are going to need to stick to 55-56 Plymouths for the parts you need. I wish you were closer as I think I may have both but I can at least get you some reference pictures. Most of my parts sources are on the West Coast so maybe someone can chime in on a place closer to you. They shouldn't be hard parts to find.

Thank you so much DepsilonD, and everyone else, I'll get one of those links to work, lol, or find it myself!

So the gentleman from the 55/56 Plymouth FB page I mentioned earlier, came through today with the lower rock shield from a '56 Dodge, they are different, He also brought the firewall air box from the same 56 Dodge, it looks like the same thing I tried to pull at a yard last winter, but I'll have to double check the catalogue now to be sure. He also said the shop that's doing his body work is going to break down the parts car and if I needed the core support he could probably get it shipped to me, so I'll check it for compatibility before I bite.. hopefully, the guy I met at Carlisle, and lives near here has what i need! It's supposed to be a 56 Plymouth, so high hopes!

I'm glad you have a few leads and I thought this post looked familiar. I'm one of the admins of the 55/56 Mopar Facebook page (David M. Nielsen).
