Nice car!
I agree nice car but...
There are a few things that bother me:
- "and a shaved deck for 8.25:1 compression" (to gain horsepower??? How?)
- presence of PS/PBs
- "Super Red Ram" stickers on the valve covers. D500s and D500-1s had no stickers. They were on the 55 270 Hemi and the 56 315 Poly four bbls but not the 56 or 57 D500 hemis.
- Custom Royal Grill teeth
- Royal/Custom Royal rear fender badges
- missing black in the D-500 crossed flags
- The extra non-factory black paint on the door sill plate

Location: Lubbock, TX | All those things that you find "bothersome", I find attractive. Is $83k out of line for this car? Perhaps, but it's also one of the more rare Forward Look Convertibles; couple that with the performance options and condition, and this is about as hard to come by as a hen tooth...

Location: Lower Mainland BC | Volusa Motors apparently got more than one D500 convertible.
I am in contact with someone from here with a D500 convertible. He says:
" My car 's build plate shows a white coronet convertible with the 270 V8. My car is actually a beach racer that was delivered to Volusa Motors in Florida but never raced. It wound up in Staten Island, New York and sat for a couple years; and the dealership couldn't sell it so he added some options and a lady bought it and drove it locally. I bought it only knowing it had a hemi when I first saw it and found out the history of the car later. It has the big brakes, heavy duty transmission, single 4 bbl hemi, sway bars front and rear, 6 leaf rear springs 16 inch springs up front and bolts and hinges for a rollbar. You can see a picture of it on google images--'56 dodge convertible--it's pink and white."
Maybe Volusa Motors did the "upgrades" to the black D500 convertible to make it more saleable back in the day (??).

Location: Under the X in Texas | Always fun to watch cars return again and again to the market trying to find "believers". As stated by DepsilonD, "nice clone". Not great.
