| My trunk weather strip channel is in pretty bad shape. Is there a source for replacement other then from a donar car? I'm thinking maybe I could find a weather strip extrusion to slide over the lip under the original channel or maybe one to glue down where the channel was. What's everybody else doing? I'm not worried about keeping it factory correct. As long as it looks decent and work |

Location: New Zealand | Made mine up in 2 halves and then tack welded them together to form the channel. I then drilled holes through the base of the channel and plug welded it to the body, a bit of body sealer smeared over the join of the 2 halves to make sure water leakage is not a problem and by the time the weather strip goes in you would never know it was 2 pieces. I bent the pieces by using my vise and a hammer.

Location: Perth Australia | I cut a piece out, then got a long piece bent up at a sheet metal workshop and replaced the entire lower strip.
To get the curve right, I put cuts on the inside edge then bent and welded it

| Thanks for the replies. I was hoping to save some time and find a weather strip I could use without the channel. Looks like there's plenty avaliable.I could make a channel but it's time consuming and I feel there's better options now a days. Does anyone have better dimensions of the factory replacement? I see dimensions on steele products website but not ideal for finding a replacement. |

Location: New Zealand | I think the channel is there to add structure to the area so it seals properly against the trunklid, you may have flexing issues if you remove it. Just a thought I may be wrong.

| You make a very good point! I haven't thought about that. That's why I asked the question on this site. Thanks! |
