I am in need of a driver side front exterior door handle for 57 or 58 imperial. Mine is broken pretty beyond repair. I have a passenger side front for trade or a passenger rear if you need either of those, both are in good driver condition.

Or just sell me a front driver side. No key cylinder required I will reuse mine.

Thanks

just fyi - the actuating lever is different between the 2 door and 4 door Imperials for 57-58.
it's easy to modify a 4 door handle to fit a 2 door (re-drilling the hole)
a 2 door lever will be too short for a 4 door unless you either weld on a longer piece or use the corresponding 2 door latch.

ahh that's why the latch didn't line up right. The tab that slips into the rectangular hole didn't reach on either side and there were 2 holes on the lever. I thought maybe the factory goofed but it looks like they were both swapped out at some point.

There was also straight slot screws on the driver side mount which made it a pain to remove, Had to remove the window. Passenger side had Philips screws. I thought these came with 3 short studs and held in place with a 5/16 nut in order to mount them.
Anyway I reinstalled the passenger side with hex head screws so a small wrench can fit even with the window installed.

Thanks for the info

I never knew that about the door latches either so thank you for posting that. I have experienced the same thing, on one side, my door handle was held in with straight slotted screws. The other side with studs and nuts.

Don is just an expert in 57-58 do to his extensive experience interchanging parts of 2dr, 4dr HT and sedan. Ask him how different 57 -58 are in reality..

I don't know if I'd say expert, I've just dealt with issues on a few of my own Imperials.
If you ever want to know about rear doors or quarter panels then Denis is the expert.
I will guess that most people would be surprised to hear 57 and 58 hood hinges do not interchange (without modification).

yes is all about dealing with this stuff. Surprisingly they are many people that don't believe tips and findings that I actually experienced first hand and was an expensive lesson.
57-58-59 Imperial are quite different specially 59. Cars looks identical but they are not.
