Which Thompson pump is it? What year, make, model, etc? There were several different Thompson pumps.
Pictures?

I played with this pump and it is an nightmare over-engineered piece of work..The methods are in the shop manual, you also are going to need to make your own special tools.

What you are looking for (I think) is a 1732 990 cap for the 1733 976 Thompson PS pump. No hits on 1732990 via eBay search but this 1945461 looks close:

I have rebuild these pumps, what a pain. The "plunger and blocks" arrangement is pretty difficult to get back together, but I found that if I coat the plungers with grease that they'll be "sticky" enough to hold their position while I arrange them and reassemble the "body" and "cap" (as named in the diagram above).
