I'm trying to identify the fit of front door outer handles which appear to be correct for 1957 DeSoto, The parts numbers are 1707 382/3. My parts book shows this:

1957-58 Except Sp. 4 D. Front, Right 1696 796
Front, Left 1696 797

Sp. 4 D. Front, Right 1756 602
Front, Left 1756 603

4 D. Sub Rear, Right 1755 614
Rear, Left 1755 615

4 D., Sp. 4 D. Rear, Right 1696 798
Rear, Left 1696 799

Of course, the numbers on these parts don't match up with anything in the parts book. Anyone have an updated parts book, or cross-reference, or anything like that?

Thank you!

The numbers on the part often don't match the part number in the book.

56D500boy, that's the page from which I listed my numbers above, so thanks, but no, it doesn't help! 57chizler, if you're correct, what hope is there for the world? LOL!

Not sure if it helps , but the casting numbers on the handles will be the same except that left and right are the same , but the casting number probably doesn't match the parts book like many parts . But 4 Door Hardtop uses a different handle assembly to all the others as the rod is a different length , the actual handle is the same , but to remove the rod means disassembly of the handle . Weirdly 4 door sedan , coupe and convert are the same .I only know this as we had a 4 door hardtop and got caught out once .
in Late 58/and 59s they use the smaller return spring on the door handles and they don't break like the earlier ones .Hope this helps
