Yeah, Nobody wants this car in pieces, and I don't have a lot of time to work on it.
Soon, I will be able to put the interior back in, and then I will put it on Epay.

I understand... a full blown project on these cars is an insane amount of work... I have been busting my butt a year now in order to get my dodge done... I barely mow my grass

Its brutal when your in a hurry, im dealing with weather up here also, makes it worse... But that car is almost heading "downhill"... But i actually like doing the work and it gets me away from my desk.

I like it better when im not rushed though You can restore at your leisure.

I welded the VIN back on. It looks crooked, but that is where the holes lined up.
Then I spot welded the quarter panel on.

mikes2nd - 2018-04-12 10:40 AM paint it yourself man, its easy. I paint all my cars, takes a day to get it done even in the driveway. https://www.amazon.com/3M-16580-Accuspray-System-Standard/dp/B01497M... get the 3m accuspray gun. Go get your colors and some clear coat. I am painting my car in single stage. sand it and buff it out. Paint jobs go from 3500 to 25000$ and "depends" ... if your car is stripped its super easy. You have a earl scheib in WV in dunbar? They "shoot" the car for 399$ Thats basically just the labor in the booth. http://www.earlscheibautopainting.com/about.html Here is an example of my 3000Gt and Dodge Stealth I painted in my garage its a good Saturday workout but you save a lot. its a 25000$ paint job

Mike,, I picked up the 3M sprayer you suggested from Amazon and will try it out, what mm nozel do you use or single stage and which one for Base Coat/Clear Coat applicatiion?

heh i made it sound a bit too easy

But if your painting in your garage, your best off painting the car in parts.

I was running into weather issues and the body work is brutal. Getting the body straight is the issue.

I was watching "bitching rides" and I watched them skim coat the entire car in bondo... i understand why now on these old cars.

They had tons of stamping ripples in the bodies.

So to shoot my single stage I use a 1.4 tip(orange). Youll need the liners and caps.

I used "featherfill G2" bondo filler primer to get thing straight, it takes 3 series of coats to get things good.

I have not used the base clear with the accuspray yet. I find single stage paints are very good quality now. Check out eastwood or Nason.

I use the 2.0 tip(red one)

To use the accuspray be VERY careful not to put wear on the tabs. push the edges in good so they dont scrape on the gun, once you booger up a latching corner the tip is garbage. If the tip does not have a tight seal it wont shoot at all.

Do not do the push on "latching" and snapping like they show, notice how they push the buttons on the side in when they remove the tip? Put the tip like that also so it doesnt harm the latches. I had a couple tips shred the latches when i tried to snap them on. So pull trigger, push both buttons in and put tip on.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KnhxzKbDlZI

Also verify the 6 air holes in the back of the tip are formed right, i had some 2.0 tips that i had to punch out. I had a couple "misformed" tips... that pissed me off alot since i couldnt figure out why it wouldnt shoot right.

guy shows about cleaning it well. Except youll need to take the tip off and clean from the back.

just another mention, this is a good starter gun and can be used even later for experienced painting. I think i got mine for 140$ shipped for the basic kit.

I bought some liners and cups off amazon(they were chinese knockoffs and needed some attention but work fine) and more tips.

If your going to paint 15 cars your better off buying an expensive gun.

you will get 3-5 shoots with a tip if your careful not the trash the latches. be careful with the tip cleaning and you can get some life out of them.

For me who paints a car every couple of years its a great choice, the clean up is the best part To clean the tip, i pour some laq thinner in the top and shake a bit then spray, repeat that a few times, take the tip off, clean the needle and the back of the tip down the hole. I put some thinner in the back with my finger over the tip and back hole and shake and rinse a few times.

Just got it yesterday. It's at my mechanic's shop right now, and I'll be heading over there this weekend to sort out all the parts in the trunk and get a start on the rust repair.
