I'll start with an "easy" one Paint

APA = Black roof, gold saddle, black body. (I think). (Assuming Dodge and Plymouth ran the same paints) OR
APA = Black roof, royal red saddle, black body (using a 58 Plymouth colour chart)

1957 Plymouth colours attached.

Through to the mid-1950s Chrysler car divisions shared few colours . But by 1960 Plymouth and Dodge shared almost all colours as did DeSoto and Chrysler/Imperial. Chrysler was in a massive project to eliminate duplication of information - paint, options, codes, etc. The whole thing did not come together until 1966 when Chrysler Canada started building cars for the U.S. - Darts in this case.

Thanks Bill. Obviously you had that 57 Plymouth paint card in your electronic files (I couldn't find one via Google).

*THEN* I noticed that the IBM card has a listing of the paints right on it. DUH.

You might find the build sheet (not card) in the car under carpet or above the glove box. The IBM build card is held by Fiat Chrysler America (FCA) Historical services as a microfiche photo. FCA Historical will sell you info about your car including a copy of the IBM card. You need proof of ownership and money (a check). In the end, they won't tell you much but it will be more than you know right now.

I don't know much about Plymouths and I doubt it will be this easy, BUT, does your car have:

Power steering
Power brakes
Power pak (4bbl carb and dual exhaust)
Sportone
Bumper? guards

Pretty much answers more questions. Confirms Torqueflite, 7.50 X14 whitewall tires and front and rear buffer guards (whatever they are).

Guess it is this easy!! The last job would be to line these codes up with the card columns and their respective hole punches.

I know almost nothing about 57 Plymouths but I see the paint code as APP which I believe is

A= Sand Dune White Roof
P = Desert Gold Body
P = Desert Gold Sport Tone Insert

Something like the top one here:

Body Type 66 = Belvedere V8 (6), 2-Door Hardtop (6)
Color APP = Sand Dune White Upper Color (A), Desert Gold Lower (P) and “Sportone” Insert (P) Colors
Trim 343 = White Velva-Grain Vinyl and Gold Flight Weave
131 = White Side Wall Tires – 7.50 x 14 – 4 Ply
154 = Heater with Defroster
169 = Push Button Radio and Antenna
183 = Accessory Group – License Plate Frame, Vanity Mirror, Left and Right Outside Rear View Mirrors
203 = Power Package – 4BBL Carburetor, Special Manifold, Dual Exhaust and Special Air Cleaner
212 = Sportone – No idea what does it mean; your car does not have “Sportone”, the lower body color is Gold all-over;
Does this car have Aluminum Insert Sportone like on the Fury?

Your car has Factory Manual Transmission, Manual Steering and Brakes;
Wheel Covers, Rear Quarter Stone Shields, Prismatic Mirror, Cigar Lighter, Glove Box Lock were Standard Equipment on Belvederes (Accessory Group 178)

Digged in my database and found another 1957 Plymouth IBM card picture;
The Sportone item actually has order code 321, not a 212 as I’ve supposed earlier;
An odd fact: the order code 321, while “2” printed above instead “1”;

Scrolling up to the beginning this thread (goat19642004), we can see a correct Sportone code 321, and APA paint scheme code on the IBM card picture;
This car has white roof (A), gold body (P) and white Sportone (A) colours,
The Sportone code 321 must mean an added lower moulding, I guess (upper is standard)

The currently IBM card (Sergio Harley) car has paint scheme APP and Sportone code 322 (“2” above “321” column);
It might be Sportone with same color as lower body or spring special anodized aluminum insert between the side mouldings like on the Fury, I guess…

Could you post a couple pictures of your car, please?

Disclaimer: I know nothing about 57 or 58 Plymouths *BUT* I do know my way around the 55-58 Parts Catalog fairly well.

That said, I believe that there is some compelling evidence that some Belvederes could have the same or similar anodized insert panels set between an upper and
lower trim along the front fenders, hardtop doors and rear fenders that the Furys received.

This "evidence" starts with the results of a search that shows the trim that surrounds these panels on both the 57 (and 58?) Belvederes and Furys, i.e. Sections 23-23-80 and 23-23-85

The first inkling that I might be on to something was the upper door trim PN (1696 642 ) that is common to both the Belvederes and the Furys.

The Fury trim diagram also flagged the annodized inserts as Items 10, 12 and 14. When chasing Item 12 as PN 1833 978, it shows up as applying to both the Belvedere and Fury models.
Likewise for Item 14, the big rear fender piece.

Irrefutable? Maybe, Maybe not. Compelling, I think so.

(At least until an expert comes along)

Thank you for the pictures.
So, your car does have the single side upper moulding, right or does not?
Did you see the factory mounting holes on the bare metal for the lower moulding during the repainted preparation?
Need to figure out exactly: Did your car have factory ONE or TWO mouldings on the side?
Thanks.

She was exactly the Gold Belvedere on the pic above.

Thank you guys for helping me, you guys are great.

Now she has the upper and lower side mouldings, I've bought the original Power Steering, Power Brakes (front disc brakes), the original engine is long lost so I've installed a 318 LA small block Mopar with moderate racing prep and a 3 speed transmission on the flor with a Hurst Shifter, Chrysler 8 3/4 3:54 ratio and sure grip rear end.

This lady will be able to cruise and race as well.

Thanks once again.
